Ole Miss Senior Class Honors Chancellor Dan Jones with "Service Before Self" Scholarship

Ole Miss rally for Dan Jones on Oxford
campus, March 25

Few stories have rallied the University of Mississippi family like the firing of Chancellor Dan Jones. On March 20, the Board of the  Institutes of Higher Learning, which oversees the eight public universities in Mississippi, said it would not renew Jones's contract which expires in September. That touched off a round of protests across the state, including thousands who rallied on March 25 in Oxford. It appeared the IHL board and Jones would reach some sort of compromise that would allow him to stay, but on April 2 Jones said he could not accept the Board's conditions for his staying, and announced that he would leave at the end of his contract.

The 2015 Senior Class at Ole Miss has decided to honor Chancellor Jones with the creation of a scholarship in his name. The Dan Jones "Service Before Self" Scholarship is currently soliciting donations. You can learn more about the scholarship and how to contribute by clicking here
