"Grey Thursday" sales caused for a calm "Black Friday"

By: Kristin Jackson

Shoppers quickly caught on to the new growing trend, which is now being called “Grey Thursday”.

After shoppers stuffed themselves on Thanksgiving, they hurried and challenged the 6 p.m. great holiday deals.

Stores including Macy's, Best Buy, H.H. Greg, and DICK’s opened up around 5 p.m.  Store managers on let 50 people in at time and things moved very smoothly.

Thanksgiving day has now turned into the new Black Friday after Thursday’s success.

“The atmosphere this year seems more structured, I guess you say less chaos going on, the earlier they opened it made it seem like less trouble with people and not as hectic and more peace among each other,” said Antonio Shipp.

There were no lines and no waiting at the Oak Court Mall in Memphis TN on Friday, know as the busiest shopping day of the year.

Stores like Jos. A. Bank’s, a tailored and casual men’s store did not open their doors on Thursday.

Joseph A Banks Store Manager, Robert Parrish said Men’s Wear House has recently bought them and the regional manger decided to let them off on Thanksgiving.

Parrish said he loves spending that time with his family and glad he has that day to relax before the storm.
