Ole Miss Student Starts a Business That Allows People to Buy and Sell Used Merchandise for Cheap Prices

Ole Miss Nutrition and Hospitality Management student Elizabeth Darby Fallon creates a unique business called Shop&Swap Oxford that is designed for people in the area to buy and sell gently worn designer clothing.

Shop&Swap is a quick, simple way to buy and sell nice, easily worn clothing and accessories that you no longer want for more affordable prices. People that are interested in selling something or purchasing an item posted on the Shop&Swap page just text or email Fallon to set up a meeting time. Fallon is conveniently running Shop&Swap at her High Cotton Apartment on the Oxford Square, so customers meet there to drop items off or take a look at the merchandise for sale. Once a customer drops off an item with their name and the retail price marked on the bag, Fallon takes care of cleaning the items and posts them to the Shop&Swap Facebook page as soon as they are ready. Shop&Swap is starting off just on Facebook, but the week old Facebook group already has over 500 members and Fallon hopes to expand the fast growing business to it’s own website soon. Shop&Swap accepts clothing from all seasons, as well as a variety of accessories and shoes as long as they are in good shape.

Shop&Swap accepts cash and cards, but if you do use a card, Fallon takes a 5% commission off the every sale due to the credit card fees. “I didn’t start it to make money. I was just cleaning out my closet and realized that I have a lot of things that I never wear  and I didn’t want anymore, so I thought Shop&Swap would be a good thing to start and keep me busy,” said Fallon.
